hi, and welcome!

This site has been inspired by the lovely Clare Nasir, weather presenter for GMTV.

There was a distinct lack of information and images on the internet relating to her.  So something had to be done. Please enjoy the site, and If you come accross any more images or information, please contribute.

Thanks

Clares Views on Education:

"With 3 A-level passes there was a variety of degree courses and universities to which I could have applied, but I chose Plymouth because it allowed me to combine a mainly mathematics based degree with another subject, Ocean Science. Three years later I graduated with a 2.1 honours degree. In my final year project I combined the mathematical skills I had learnt with my interest in marine science. This put me in a good position to apply for the MSc in Applied Marine Science, again at Plymouth. I then applied to the Meteorological Office and succeeded in fulfilling a long term ambition when I was selected to train as a weather forecaster and presenter. My background in mathematics and the science based postgraduate qualification was ideal for this type of work. I would highly recommend a mathematics degree."

Biography

Born in Milton Keynes in 1970, Clare went to Plymouth University in 1988 and graduated with an honours degree in Maths.

She went on to complete a masters degree in Applied Marine Sciences before training at the Met Office to be a qualified weather forecaster.

After two years, Clare joined the London Weather Centre, which offers  weather forecasting and presenting services to London radio stations. This led to her being offered a permanent post as forecaster and presenter for Anglia Television.

She returned to London in December 1998 to work for Carlton Television; a post she held for almost two years before accepting the GMTV post.

For some time, she provided stand-in reports for GMTV, before becoming a full-time member of the team in August 2000.

In May 2001 she was promoted to weather producer and presenter, with full responsibility for all weather output and weather-related features on GMTV.

Clare lives in London, is a great music lover and enjoys playing the saxophone in her spare time.
